Consider the Source: How to Check for Greenwashed Investments
During our two-part video series on impact investing, Omnia Family Wealth Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer Michael Wagner was joined by J-Ventures Founding Member Eran Sandhaus to offer insight on the current state of ESG investing and what the future might hold for the impact space. Now, for this episode of his “Consider the Source” video series, Wagner dives further into one of the topics previously touched upon in the impact series: greenwashing.
Wagner specifically explains:
- What greenwashing is and why investors should care
- The implications of not having a governing body to regulate ESG companies
- The importance of doing due diligence to verify a company’s impact before investing
During the video, Wagner shares a list of three things investors should consider when reviewing an investment opportunity for either ESG or impact potential. This list includes ensuring that the company meets one of the United Nation’s sustainable development goals, utilizing third-party resources to ensure the stated goals are actually accomplished and teaming up with an experienced financial advisor.
